Handbrake light and mot at 4pm today arrgh

Ok so me car is due for an mot at 4 so just been checking the warning bulbs cos if these stupid new mot rules.

Now i have found my handbrake light dont work for some reason its not the bulb or holder and as i have not had the car that lomg i cant recall if it has ever worked as never took any notice.

So does anyone have any ideas and will this result in an mot failure assuming they find nothing else wrong with it ?

    Thanks in advance

i think there's a clip under the center panel near the handbrake, take that out and have a look at the wiring that goes to the handbrake, you may have to slice the carpet

Why would you have to slice the carpet?

Ffs are ppl really this dense?

Right so found the problem to be the switch as it goes down but dont go back up so if i pull it up light comes on but as soon as i put handbrake on it stays down easier enough fix but will see shortly what the mot guys think off this ?

On the note about slicing the carpet i had to do this to get to the plug only a little bit but it was still like playing operation with a pair of long nose pliers as i cant see anyway to pull the plug out without doing this ?
