Alloy referb

  1. #1
I have a set of alloys that came on my saxo when i bought it. There is abit of peeling on the surface coat and a couple of scratches. How could i referb them to get them looking sparkling clean and scrathless again?

Id prefere to do this using my own hands not having to take it to a company or anything like that.

    Cheers guys!

well im no expert at all i just sanded them down with my electic sander and sanded the more arkward bits with my hand, bought a colour i liked from halfrods along with some primer and lacquer and just took my time, i havent made a perfect job of it i could have done thinner layers and sanded between coats to keep it a bit smoother but overall for £30 i couldnt complain with the outcome

Use this guide i started mine using this but find hand sanding works best but wear gloves as my fingers where red raw afterwards but my fingertips where very smooth lol but depending on extent of damage it does take some time and is messy as hell prepping them is best to use the old wet (i.e Wet) and dry wet to get a smoother finish and to stop it all just clogging up.

It is hard work but there is some satisfaction in runnning your finger over a nice smooth wheel even if that does sound a bit perverted but i would recommend trying to get hold of some replacement wheels so you dont have to do one by one i managed to pick up 4 steelies with tyres on Ebay for the bargain price off £20 as most where looking for £25 plus for just the one.

Also i would recommend getting the tyres removed as getting around the rim it just to difficult especially if your a perfectionist like me and most likely you will have oxidisation there.

I just read my post and it sounds soooo gay lol but removing the tyre will make your life easier but you will most likely get charged to put back on, i got Kwik Fit to take it off and as they have no price for it in there system he just said give me whatever change you have but i did not have anything so he rung up the cheapest thing he could find which was 4.99 for a bulb lol but i did not mind paying but the bastard could have done it for free but thats Kwik Fit for you i guess
