#2sounds pricey, I think you need to sell on and get a new car. con rods and a new block are not cheap, like upto £600 and then labour. if its just a sump and con rod then not too bad, but its best to get all new on rods and barings as if you mix and match, they will be 'unballanced' and will cause exessive ware on the engine. My advice is either sell it on, go to a breakers yard and savange parts or do an engine transplant.

#3Id change the engine, that lump sounds suspect.
Probably cheaper than stripping down what you have ??? -
#4If its thrown a rod throgh the block where did you get the idea change the botterm end, the whole engine will be history.
Any pictures? -
#5Change the engine, there is one on here with a Gearbox going for £150 from Rookie, it will take half a day to change over.
-
#6Yeah decided to replace the whole lot will be removing today and will get some pics up tonight, but there's a rather large hole behind the alternator
-
#7I WANT to see this
-
#8Hahah I'm sure you do, shit my pants just came out of nowhere was running fine then big bang and metal and oil just went everywhere, its in a vtr but has a 1.4 engine put in. Still finding pieces of shrapnel haha
-
#9So got the engine out today and remove the sump to see what it looked like and the piston was smashed, rod snapped, oil pump was in three pieces and you could see through the front and the back of the block where the rod has come through
will get a few pics but don't have my laptop at my dads

#10How the fuck does an engine get that bad it does that?
-
#11dont even bother, just buy another VTR lump for £150ish and swap. same year same fitment as a guide.

#13Holy Shit :/

#14That'll t-cut out no problem

But seriously, what a mess!! Id just pick up a new engine for £100 odd and spend a day swapping it over if I was you -
#15It is all sorted now got a 206 engine from a scrappy took it back to find the port spaces on the inlet were different so taken the daring chance of swapping the head off the engine shown above and but it on the 206 block, cleaned all the head and ground the valves back in as there was a lot of carbon build up on the inlet side and piting on the exhaust, overall it runs great
-
#16Which 206 engine is it? I don't think any of their bottom ends fit onto a vtr though
-
#17holy shit dude that must of shit you right up ! gd luck with the car
-
#18You know, When I don't have a fucking CLUE what I'm talking about I generally keep my mouth shut - saves looking like a pillock...Quote:sounds pricey, I think you need to sell on and get a new car. con rods and a new block are not cheap, like upto £600 and then labour. if its just a sump and con rod then not too bad, but its best to get all new on rods and barings as if you mix and match, they will be 'unballanced' and will cause exessive ware on the engine. OP - swap the engine for the same plug type as yours (single/3). Will take 4-5 hours without rushing and stopping for biscuits
Not hard at all, just daunting.
Good luck, and good effort on the fucked parts. Post the pics in the "broken engine parts" thread to win style points
