Clutch Problem VTR MK2 (I'm new to this)

  1. #1
Anyone got any advice for me. I've had my vtr for a few months now and its always had a squeaky clutch when the pedal is down, we assumed it was the cable on it's way out. However this weekend I drove it and when the engine started up it was squeaking straight away, drove it for a bit and was ok but after a roundabout or two it refused to go into gear at all, and after managing to get home it stalled its way into the drive way when I put my foot down fully on the clutch. The clutch pedal is now permanently down. The cable is intact, could it be a problem with the bearings?
(You'll have to excuse me I only has a basic knowlege of cars)

Sounds like clutch release bearing has failed

i was going to say release bearing as well, not sure why the pedal is down though :/

Could be where the clutch pedal is mounted wedged up on there, the release bearing fork has bound up and holding it in, but if the pressure plate fingers have sprung inwards... 2 of those 3 is new clutch kit, fork and pressure plate the other just unlikely

Mine creaks like a bitch. I think it's just the plastic pedal.

Release bearing completely broken up meaning the fork has come past it and straight into the fingers of the pressure plate, can almost guarantee it! Aswell as a clutch kit you'll need a fork and most likely the guide sleeve that the bearing runs on. Most clutch problems on Citroen/Peugeot are down to the release bearings, they're rubbish.

Thanks everyone, step dad is taking out the gear box today so hopefully it'll be sorted this weekend. Are parts from ebay usually reliable?
