buying a car

Okay guys this is abit of a bummer one. I recently bought my saxo, signed for it and so on, paid got a receipt etc. This is the first car I have bought so I didn't know exactly what I needed even though I checked everything before hand .. anyway.

I have recently been browsing through the paper work and so on and have realised I don't have a v5 (logbook) with the car, for some reason I only have the v5c/2 form ... Anyway.

I've been ROI.g some research and have realised this means I am not the registered keeper of the car or the owner. I told my insurance company I am both of these as this is what j thought. So I know if I was to crash, the insurance company probe won't pay out but w.e. what I want to know is how to get ownership of the car? I can apply for a new v5 but it means paying £25 .. what do I do? Is this illigal to drive n;as I don't have the v5 and so on?

    Cheers guys

v5c/2 is the new keeper supplement, the person you bought the car off will have sent the log book off (v5, the big bit you signed) to the dvla and it should come back through your door in a couple of weeks
