Seafoam or alternatives

  1. #1
Ok so rather then just replace the lambda /cat i have been recommended to use this seafoam stuff and then give the car a service as this may help with the emissions dont have anything to loose really and if it works great if not then have to replace lamda/cat anyways.

So has anybody used this stuff and is it any good and how do you put it in a saxo vts ? or is there any alternatives that anyone can recommend ?

Finally if Seafoam is good where's the best place to get it as it does not seem to be the easiest stuff to get hold off.

Thanks in advance for any advice

sea foam is a non compressible fluid you spray directly into your cylinders. up to you if you want to risk the chance of bent valves and a ruined engine.

Buy a decent fuel system cleaner ( not redex ) Forte make a good one and its around £10 for 250ml and you dilute it with 5ltr of fuel and go for a run to get the car upto temp.

So you saying its shit then lol of course i read the bits on there website but of course they would say all positive hence why i have asked for opinions.

I have used Redex cant say i noticed anything different tbh would the stuff you recommend help with cleaning shit from lambda or is there no such thing ?

My plan is to use Wynns engine flush for oil then change do you see any problems with Wynns ?

CataClean is supposed to do the cleaning like you want... Although I still recon for high CO your best bet would be a new lambda

    The problem you have is
Yes seafoam COULD help same as a cleaner COULD work to lower emissions enough for your MOT....But probably not for much longer....

But also, Your cat could be too far gone to fix or your labda could be faulty...

The only reason i mentioned this is because on the emissions test it does not fail on all it fails on both both CO and passes on HC whatever that is maybe thats why someone recommended the cleaner but i aint got a clue hence why i asked.

But i dont want to use Seafoam if it has a chance of fucking up my engine ?

Ok so after doing a bit of research online looking at other car forums etc i think i have answered my own question that any kind of engine cleaner seems to be a big no no as it seems to do more bad then good especially on high milers which mine is.

So i think the best bet is to drain oil change filter and replace with a good quality one unless im missing something ?
