Question about fitting Cat/Lambda

  1. #1
Ok so im going to replace the cat and lambda as its a mk1 VTS I assume the lamba just bolts into top of cat (Haynes is rubbish for this as says its in downpipe which is for mk2's)

So onto the Cat when i replace this is there anything else i need to get like gaskets ,fitting kit etc and is there anything else i need to be aware off ?

    Thanks for any advice

lambda doesnt bolt in to top of cat. bolts into downpipe iirc.
and i dont think youll need any gaskets just reuse old but if they are f***ed then replace.

Lol shows how much i know hehe i will just take it off and see what happens with the gasket i guess is it just a case of putting gasket back on and then bolting back up ?

    very straight forward

I guessed it would be just hope the bolts come undone lol

bolts on the cat and lambda are usualy siezed in from the heat

corrosion more like,so a good wire brush up & soak in wd40 usually works.

i had to get blowtorch on my lambda sensor lol, it was solid

Sorry so im clear the lambda is in the downpipe i.e if i cant get it out i will have to replace this aswell i guess ?

The reason i assumed lambda was in pipe off cat as my old Vectra was like this and we could not get that off so had to buy a new one.
