power steering pipe leaking price?

    The power steering pipe from the bit where you fill it up to the pump I think has leaked everywhere. Because it catches when lowered apparently? The garrage just said they've fixed it and itll be £140. Just wondering does that sound about right?

    if its the pipe from the resevoir to the pump then fuck that. pull it offput another bit of pipe over the split couple of jubilee clips then put it back on, bleed the system and all is good

    I replaced my pump recently myself and found a split in my high pressure hose and just some jubilee clips and abit of pipe done the job fine so im sure it would on any other part of hose mate

    Ahh ok cheers, do you freckon I'm getting mugged off for £140? The work has already been done, not exacrtly sure what though.

    well all they will be doing is putting a new pipe on ... its only becuase the power steering is a high pressure system that people dont like to tamper with it but i managed to replace the whole thing on my own and im no mechanic soo its not that bigga deal

    I think anything over £90 -£100 would be abit of a rip off as they are only gna replace a streight pipe then bleed it but hey if you feel more comfortable knowing a professional is playing with it then you got no problem i guess

    The bit that catches when its lowered its no were near the pump its right at the back of the engine bay

    Yeah thats what I thought, but the pipe from where you fill it up to the pump was covered in fluid. The garage said it was the other pipe though because its been lowered. They said it was slightly leaking in the MOT advisory then the next day the fluid just all came out.

    sounds like there just messing around and charging a bomb. you can see a majority of the pipes from the engine bay so id just follow it with my hand and feel for anything else. as for the resevoir pipe i was saying .. its easy peasy!

    Did you tell them to do it ? If not and you are happy to do it yourself tell them you did not tell them to do it and your not paying for it i had a garage do this on some wheel bearings so i told them i did not tell you to do it so im not paying and they huffed and took the price off and i kept the bearings aswell some will try this thinking you will just pay them and i say fuck that lol.

    If you agreed i think you unfortunately will have to pay them.

    If they replaced the pipe at the back of the engine bay then it`ll be leaking again soon,unless they`ve bent it slightly out of the way.

    When my pipe split, I paid £22 for one on eBay and only took like 25 mins to fit

    It was an advisory in the MOT that it was slightly leaking. Then the next day when i took it home it leaked everywhere from the pipe above the pump leading to where you fill it up. I took it back to the garage and they said it was where its been lowered, but that pipe is in a different place? :s

    Ill pick it up tomorrow and ask what has been done. If its the pipe catching on the steering rack does the price sound about right? Including the part, new fluid and labour I guess.

    I know shit about the price tbh but if you not happy with it or seems like all they have done is change a pipe which you could do yourself but of course your paying for the labour, best advice i can give is question it as whats the worse they can do you might even be able to get some money of

    sorry but they have taken the piss out of you there mate my garage would have charged like 40 quid to do that its a piece of piss to do
