Spongey steering!!!

  1. #1
Hi, I bought an old 1996 1.1 to tinker about with. Love it, good little car to work on.

Need a bit of advice tho, steering is really really spongey. Can anyone advise best thing to do? Dont want to take it to the gargage as thats not why I bought it!

Also, whats the best things to do to a 16 year old Saxo to "bring it back to life" its pretty beaten up and done 140,000 miles. Not much oooomph in it!

    Cheers for any help!

Try the track rod ends... Take the front wheels off and they connect the steering rack to the suspension strut. They can be a bitch if they are ceased though

Probably not an economically sound idea but you could always fit a lower mileage engine.
