Funny Rattle at 2750 rpm

so here's the thing, I'm selling my car in around 3 weeks time. I dont want to be a dick and hide any problems the car has because im selling to a family member. So to that cause id really like to be able to tell her what the hell is up with my car!!lol

No matter how fast i accelerate, between 2500 and 3000 rpm in every gear bar the first, i can hear a fairly loud rattle come scraping noise from somewhere towards the front of the car. It seems apparent that if it always happens at the same rev count that its probably something to do with the transmission, which im dreading.

    Any idea folks?

    heatshield

what the one under the car? nope that fell off a few weeks back, or at least something resembling it did, and before that fell off it was making noise at all rpms, this noise is concentrated to a zone of rpms. Unless its another heat shield your on about hessle son?

cat heat shield, if thats not the one that has already fallen off. The actual sheild on the cat not the one above it

It could also be the downpipe rattling, there is a bolt which holds it to the gearbox and this can work loose and it rattles the flywheel cover and makes a funny noise at certain rpm's

could be the fly wheel sheild.....

could also be as bad as big end bearings!

does it do it when stationary?

Sorry for bumping a REALLY OLD thread - but this thread describes exactly what is wrong with my car, only at about 1500rpm and 5750rpm.

It rattles whether it's idle or not, so hopefully it's exhaust or heatshield related, and not the gearbox.

    Ideas?

yea got the same problem. it makes a vibrating/rattling noise at like 5400rmp and 6900rpm lol Had my car up on stands and had someone hold the revs at these rpms when it is making the rattling noise. After taking a peek under the car, the noise is coming from the cat.

I'll try and record the noise later, hopefully some sharp ears can help me.

I'm new to this so here goes. I bought a furio a few weeks ago and because of the cold weather me thinks, it developed a rattling noise around the middle section of the exhaust. It happened everytime i put my foot down from low revs in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th gears and at clutch biting point. it started to really do my nut in. It sounded like a shield on a cat. On the weekend I couldnt stand it any longer so i got my father-in-law to hav a look (he use to hav his own garage).

It turned out to be the spring bolt which joins the middle section to the manifold. the bolt was tight but spring was loose. he took it off easily enough and packed it with washers to stop spring from moving and now THANK THE LORD, the noise has now gone. I hope this helps someone because I know it was doing my head in. Next call is changing the cv boot on nearside any help or advice would be appreciated, don't want to keep bothering father-in-law as he runs his own business.

ps If you have questions just ask and i will help as best as i can
