Important! : Engine won't turn over. I can feel a tapping from the ECU

    I had a VTS box fitted this weekend and all seemed ok. I managed to make the 100 odd mile trip back home with no issues at all besides the starter motor sounding slow.

    I drove to work this morning with no issues, but them I jumped in the car to o grab some lunch and the engine wouldn't start.

    the first attempt at turning the key, turned the engine over but wouldn't start. then I tried again and it wouldn't even turn over.

    the light with the key symbol flashes slowly and the light on the far right hand side next to the AIRBAG light flashes vigorously. there is also a clicking/tapping noise coming the engine and under further investigation I can hear it coming from the ECU, which I can also feel tapping/clicking.

    does anyone have any idea WTF is going on, and any ideas on how to fix this?

    possiblr fuel pump relay which is under the ecu also check the earth points on the gearbox

    as you look at the top of the gear box one next to reverse swtch and the other is right near it i will try and find a pic now 2 secs

    should be 1 earth on the chassis and 2 on the gearbox.

    Exact same problem as mine.. 'clicking' was the relay - but only due to the earths.

    best pic i could show you with really if my memory serves me right they should be roughly where arrowe in red (not the best i know but may help)

    earths seems fine though I can only find one earth on the gearbox. it's the one a few inches behind the reverse sensor with the green and yellow wires.

    any pics of where the second one should be?

    no I tried starting it with jump leads and still no luck

    As said, I bet there's 2 earths on chassis and 1 on the box.. Simply switch 1 off the chassis onto the box, That's all I did and it worked 1st time lol.

    have you got any close up pics of where both earths should be on the gearbox?

    issue resolved.

    the earth that runs from the battery to the gearbox wasn't put back on.

    surprised that I managed to drive it home tbh.
