Important! : irratic reving on 16v when started..please help!!

   Hi my mates car today has started acting random
   
   U start it up and it goes to 4000rpm and stays there.
   U then give it a rev and then the revs start bouncing.
   
   We have used parts of mine on his like complete throttle boddie and sensors.used my map sensor..cleaned the crank sensor..but still the same..all those bits on mine are perfect..
   
   Any suggestions on what else to check

   Possibly the idle control valve?

   I have used mine nd its the same..its bloody odd as thats what i though lol

   Or maybe the throttle cable is stuck in a posistion, or one of the sensors near the throttle body is stuck or dirty

   but if the trottle was stuck in a position the revs would hold but once you gove it one rev the revs just bounce...makes the car very hard to drive!!
   
   iv had problems like this before with my old ones and its always either throttle position sensor or idle control valve!!!

   Fuck knows then lol, a long shot but is your battery weak at all... any trouble starting the car or any bump start needed?

   battery is shot but tryed mine(as again perfect order)
   
   i may disconnect the throttle cable of throttle boddie and start it..also i have read about temp sensor(green plug) can also be a problem???
   
   im greatful for all your advice...im really trying to sort this matter for him lol

   tried the coil pack? had a look on my autodata and it seemed to say that erratic idling can be down to coil pack & plugs
