Weird noise

  1. #1
I know it's hard to detect noises without hearing them but if it's a commen problem maybe you guys can point me in the right direction. It sounds like its coming from the front drivers wheel area, it's like a rubbing noise maybe metal on metal. If anyone's ever heard a four paddle clutch it's sounds a bit like that. It's only happens when I back off the throttle or when the car is coasting, if I turn right it stops but continues when I'm going straight or turning left.

    Any ideas guys
P.S. The car has just passed MOT

theres nothing worse than a nosie you can work out the only thing i would do is jack the car up and give the wheel a spin and see if you can work it out from there hope this helps you with finding out the problum could be wheel bearing not 100%

Check for dead animals in the wheelarch , unknown to me last year I hit a badger and I was getting the same noise for weeks before the smell started coming through the vents gave it away . The noise was gone as soon as the animal was removed.

    Hope that helps

Probably a wheel bearing, jack it up, put your hands top and bottom on the wheel, and if there's play then the wheel bearings fucked

Thanks for the replies chaps, managed to get under and investigate yesterday and I've noticed a split cv boot. So I'm thinking that the problem.

    Thanks for the help,

You may think this sounds silly but check your wheel nuts. One of my cans loose and did exactly this.

also check your cv boot, make sure its not split, if it has your drive shaft may be drying up, or have grit in them, my drive shafts are naffed and there noisey as hell,
