I have just got myself one of these new
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sealey-Dia...b#ht_706wt_952
thinking I could use it to clear my engine light that I get every now and then from the lambda sensor...
I can plug it in and read the codes (there's 2, one for lambda and one for some random missfire it did for 2 mins a couple of months ago).
I can then get it to erase the codes, it say's it has erased codes successfully or similar. However I can still view the codes on the reader.
I have then tried 2 different things after this stage.
1) Turn off ignition and unplug scanner - turn on engine and no success
2) On the reader you can select rescan. Which it then does and tells me there are no fault codes and I think it says the MIL > OFF (I don't know if that's the engine management light)
However, when I turn off ignition, remove scanner and turn on the engine the light is still on. If I then turn off the engine, connect the reader back up it gives me the same 2 codes, and I end up going round in circles.
Any ideas? Anyone else used these scanners successfully?
Car is an 03 plate VTS.
Cheers
