Is this my rear axle?

Bought myself another Saxo VTS last night got it very cheap but i'm 99% sure the rear axle has gone on it.

It drives fine and handles well but theres a terrible knocking from the rear drivers side. I couldnt see any noticable camber on the wheels tho.

The knocking only happens when going over bumps etc if the road is nice and smooth its fine no knocking.

Am i right in thinking its the rear axle?

It could be one of your bushes, Get it up on a jack and have a look at where the axel mounts to the car, Check the rubber bushes to see if its perrished or it could be the shocks?

Cheers i will check these. I thought it was axle as the ammount of threads i read about knocking and it being the axel.

I wouldnt rule the axel out, it could be many things if its knocking but i know mine used to until i replaced the shocks (the bushes on the shocks were fudged)

Check the spare wheel is tightened up properly. Obvous one but I've had a few of these cars where it's crashing about.

Check the mounting bolt for the shock absorber.

As already said, check the mounting bolts for the shock, the bushes and make sure everything's tight but not perished.

Cheers for the replies guys been looking at it today and found out what it is. Axle and shocker are fine. Its got a rusty boot\arch looks like the seal for the floor\arch has come loose so this is moveing and making the noise my mate has been down today and checked it all and hes going to cut out the rust and weld it all up together so will get it sorted.
