last few weeks car aint had a run or been moved alot, so when i go to start it, it starts fine but then seems to struggle engine management light flashes and it wont rev properly sounds like a bag of poop and struggles to drive. now i can turn it on and off wont alter it much but if i leave it and come back to it later its fine and no issues at all?

    any ideas?

Best of investing in one of those £20 code readers of the bay

i'll take it to garage just hoped someone on here may have similar probs and say bang its this

Ok, well for the price they'd charge you to plug it in once... you could have your own to use over and over

When my coilpack had random misfires.. that caused my engine management light to flash

rather friendly with my garage so its a freebie.

butttt its not missfiring just wont allow me to rev past 2-3k and seems to labour really bad. just drove it now and no problems at all

Could be damp in somewhere in the bay. Could be a bad MAP or MAF sensor, coilpack, fueling issue. Those are what id check first. How does it idle?

code reader turned up today and seems i could have been wrong, codes was for random/multiple cylinder misfire detected, so is this the coilpack?

Where did you get this reader from?

My VTS runs a bit dodge and wouldn't mind buying one of these if they cheap to see of there's a problem.

mmm got the same problem, got the RAC out, their man did the diagnostics, it showed ''random multiple misfires'' he told me to change fuel asap did so it was ok for a while then back to running like shit and then after leaving it a while ran ok again, feels like the bottom is falling out, won't rev well, seems to ''hunt' could be the petrol but having changed it once I doubt it..You get yours sorted mate.. ?

If it is a random misfire then the fault code will probs be po300 ie a new coil pack is needed. At the same time though i`ve filled up with cheap fuel & had the eml on & the car running like shit.

I know this probs won't be much help but maybe just running it till empty, put a full tank in and some redex? Mine was running like shit for a while, went like a tractor ans just got some redex in there and took it for a nice long drive and basically sorted it. Proba just some deposits in the system and needs a good flush. Maybe also change of fuel filter? Might be blocked up or something.

mmm never heard of anyone using Redex for a long, long while. I mean in the days of yore before unleaded petrol and unleaded petrol engines I put a shot in regularly but never since.. I'm gambling on this being ignition rather than fuel. I base this gamble on the fact that the misfire if you can call it that almost kicks you out the cab happens at both low and high revs and is inconsistent.Actually [and I am not sure if your aware of this] one is able to check the coil. Haynes point to checking ''resistance'', this is of low and high tension at a regular temperature of 20c..To do this one must use a multimeter, and of course be able to interpret the reading..Its a chew on I know, but where one can save a few bob and get the satisfaction of the fix, it needs to be done.. Must admit I'm an armchair fixer now and probably will do bugger all about it except put it in a garage, whereas 40-45 years ago I would be itching to get at it.

yea mines all sorted, bought new coilpack, map sensor and icv too as eurocarparts had a special discount code so got the whole lot for £54 delivered coilpack alone sorted the problem out as havent has a issue since.
