Not happy with your knob?

   Just a little heads up really.
   
   If you have a mk1 or a lesser model saxo your likely to have an old fashioned crappy gearknob, if you have an early mk2 the gearknob was made from painted plastic so likely to be worn out and if you have a late mk2 it will be a gash chrome effect one.
   
   Most aftermarket ones will look out of place in a standard interior so I went to Peugeot and got a half leather, half aluminium late 106 gti one for only £7. Citroen wanted more than that for the bog standard plastic one!

   That will go straight onto a mk2 due to it having a plastic sleeve on the gearstick but if you have a mk1 you will need to either glue it on or wrap electricians tape round the stick and wedge it on.

   The part number description off my reciept is "P00002403R8 016A02 Gearnob" and it is £7.99 including VAT.
   
   Glad to help mate, people selling these on ebay for nearly £20!

   thats good i went to citroen for a new gearnob as the lady own before me had scratched mine prob from a weddign ring and citroen wanted £17 jsut for the standard plastic one

    mine is similar to that silver mine was on my mrk2 vts when i got it craigy 87 pointed that out to me i thought they all came like that

    Yeah it looks similar but the saxo one was painted plastic and wears out really easily, mine was on 25k miles and it was really worn out. This one is leather and metal instead.

    On my mark one 1.1 do i just need to cut the top peice off of my existing one... (using a knife...) then glue the new one in its place? Or do i need to purchase a whole new gaitor etc.
    
    Also whats the recommended glue ?

    no mate, just pull the surround (leather) off and push it onto the new gearknob! there's a small groove at the bottom of the knob which the material sits into!
    i purchased mine the other day!

    jsut pull the knob off, the pug one may slide on and then turn into place....
    you may need to take a bit of the white thing off, enough to stick a gromit on...not sure if you will have to do the latter though, probs not...

    Thanks guys, just to clairify,(sp?) my gear knob and surround is a one peice... (as far as im aware) and the whole lot will come off in one go so i wont be able to use the surround (plastic) as its attatched to the original knob?
    
    Or am i reading your replys correctly and it should just be fine...? n00b.

    You will probably need to aquire a gaitor off a VTR/VTS. Should be able to get one for a few quid from ebay or scrappy.
    
    In regards to some people having to pay £12, I bought mine back in May so the price has obviously risen.

    Bought one the other day for willsy as he hasn't got a pug dealer near him and I can confirm the price has risen to £12. Still worth it though.

    The guy at the pug parts counter gave me right grief when i went up there the other day. He INSISTED that i gave him a registration number, even though i dont own a gti. Such a moody cunt. I'll try again sometime hopefully he wont be there.

    hey thanks for the tip. i have a cheap gear knob in my car. doesn't look too bad but would prefer and original pug one.
    
    the guy ho had my car before me put a silly all chrome (looking) gear knob in. then one night silly me left the passenger door unlocked and it got nicked. bought a shitty replacement for approx £20 and for £8 this one looks much better. might get my dad to order me one tomorrow.

    i had that before, i said its 51 plate n he was askin for full reg, couldnt remember my mates so i left it, got one from citroen, 51 reg saxo vtr one and i think its smart, dont like the gti one with leather on

    Craigy_87 that gear nob looks like a subaru gear nob, im pretty sure my mums 04 WRX has that or very similar one!
