VTS/GTI conversion

  1. #1
Had a GTI engine put in my saxo, had cams fitted aswell..

    My question to people is:

When at traffic lights or in traffic it idles really badly and cuts out, do people think could be a ICV or will this be down to a re-map needed

Also my dials won't work, dose anyone know which wires from the loom I need to wire up as it must be wrong.

    It's 2001 furio 3plug that's gone to a single plug GTI

    Cheers

cant help with the dials, but stalling / poor idle is likely cam timing - what settings did you use for the cams (timing) and what cams are they?

As far as I know, the saxo interior loom doesn't match to the 106 loom, so you will need to re-wire it but i can't help anyt further with that.

However that bad idling will most likely be cam timing...what cams are they and what are the timing marks set to?
if they're mild/fast road cams they will need a map

However the cutting out makes me think it could be the MAP/MAF sensor needs cleaning or wiring needs checking for them, and sicne the ICV only takes a few mins to clean, you might aswell give that a go anyway.

I had the cams and the belt fitted for me while i was away on holiday..

How would I check if it is correct?

    Any ideas???

That's the car on idle any ideas what causes it
  10. #10
    Bump....
  11. #11
When my dials didn't work, I found it to be a loose earth located behind the fuel rail... that might be causing the issue with the dials
  12. #12
Mine did that when i done my conversion it turned out to be a bent pin on the ICV connector!
    Worth a try

You haven't answered what cams they are?

Sounds and looks like a cam timing issue.

Good point, but i have put catcam 743's on car recently on standerd timing marks and it idle lumpy stalls now and then but not like that lol
  15. #15
At the moment I know they are catcams..

It idles fine for abit and then it will start idling Like that...
  16. #16
Probably 748's then. Like ph3's - will work if you adjust cam timing a smidge, but on standard marks are very symptomatic of your video.
