#2Sounds like you are burning oil mate and maybe your piston rings have gone. check your oil level ASAP and get a compression test on it
-
#3Could be head gasket, stem seals or rings in order of severity there.
-
#4checked oil and put more in and still doing this , checked oil ring to see if head gasket was on its way out but nothing , looks like a trip to the garage

#5Other thing to check for is an oil leak, where its blowing along you`re exhaust(which is hot)causes it to smoke like hell.

#6+1 my rocker cover gasket spilit 130 miles away from home (was going santa pod) tried some instanst gasket stuff but didnt help much, used 12L of oil the smoke behinde me was something else when i stopped it was coming out the wheels the bonnet and under the archesQuote:Other thing to check for is an oil leak, where its blowing along you`re exhaust(which is hot)causes it to smoke like hell.

#7whats the oil ring? You wont be able to check stem seals without stipping the head down and pulling it off, likewise the rings will need a block strip down

#8I would imagine that if there was a oil leak somewhere e.g rocker gasket, it would smoke throughout the whole rev range including tickover, not just over 3k
I'm still sticking with piston rings, as my engine did this before shitting itself in dramatic style.... which turned out to be rings -
#9If you rev an engine you put it under more load causing any weakness in a seal/gasket to be exposed. It will leak more when the engine is warm as well because the oil will be thinner.Quote:I would imagine that if there was a oil leak somewhere e.g rocker gasket, it would smoke throughout the whole rev range including tickover, not just over 3k
