Diesel fuel filter leak

  1. #1
Changed the fuel filter on a 1.5d
and i cant seem to get rid of an annoying drip from the drain plug at the bottom of the filter.
Currently ive replaced the crap plastic cap with a bolt and rubber washer and its done up fairly tight, but still drips

the drip isnt much of an issue to me, its just the location its dripping, onto the clutch

    any help?

ok ill try that, thanks mate

so where abouts do you wrap the tape? surely you wont be able to wind in the bolt if you wrap it around the thread?

    It'll be fine homeslice.

where do you put it lol

Around the thread as said, its very thin but creates a nice water/oil tight seal. Got some on my block when i replaced the Mark 2 filter with a Mark1 setup never leaked a drop.

so with the tape on the thread, you can still wind the bolt in? that must be some thin tape lol

It is very thin tape, you need to make sure you put a nice even amount around it else it will get really chewed up and probably still leak when you wind it in. Easy to do though!

It's not really a bodge its a known way to get an air or liquid tight seal on any thread. Look on your house radiators chances are all the threaded connections will be ptfe taped
