White smoke on start up

  1. #1
My parenter just passed her driving test and we got her a saxo 1.4 VSX. It was cheep.

When starting the car it kicks out lots of white smoke but clears quite quick. (Within 5secs)

Tomorrow its having oil and filter changed and coolent flushed and changed.

The car has been stood up for a few months before we had it.

    Any ideas?

try taking the oil cap off and seeing if it looks milky. it could be a head gakset, but if it clears it may just be condensation in the exhaust!

What, white smoke?. To the OP if it has been stood for a while it may help to give it a good run and get everything nice and hot, probably a fair bit of condensation sitting around in the exhaust etc. Check the oil and water when you replace it and see what they look like. Keep an eye on the coolant and oil once you've replaced it.

It had a few good runs.

    We had it 2 weeks.

It does smell of petrol but quickly blows away with the smoke.
