What size inlet pipe on cat for VTS

  1. #1
What size should the inlet pipe on a cat be i.e the side that connects to the downpipe on a mk1 vts ?

Also do other models of saxo have a small inlet pipe on there cats as i got believing it was from a vts but the inlet pipe measures 1.75" as opposed to the 2" one which i took of the car.

Thanks for any advice in advance

The CAT on my 98 mk1 Vts is the same 1.75" or 45mm.
    Hope that helps.

Hmm this is odd as the one i took of the car is 2" and the vts gasket i purchased is the same size as the one on the car.

The problem with the smaller one is the gasket is to big so when i try to tighten to the downpipe it dont fit flush because of the gasket ?

This is the gasket i got from old ebay.

ok here are some pics that explain the problem better

Old cat with worn and blacked gasket

Replacement cat with 2" VTS gasket which fits old one but as you can see it is clearly to big for a pipe of 1.75"

How replacement cat looks on car as i can not get the cat and downpipe to mate to together due to gasket size

So can anyone offer any futher help ?

Also the spring on the bolt which side is this supposed to be on as i cant remember from when i took it off lol

    1.4

I bought a 1.4 VTS Cat and it fits my 1.6 VTS but the inner pipe is smaller (as in your photo) - I'm using plenty of Holts style sealant to get it through the French MOT and will then be putting the de-cat back on.

Reason I bought the 1.4 one was it's a "Walker" (I think) and was 100€ new rather than the 600€ Citroen wanted for the 1.6 VTS one. Mine came with a "smaller/correct size" gasket though.

    Hope this helps

Problem is i cant seem to find a smaller gasket as i i dont know what car the cat is from as all the ones i can find dont state the size just what car they are for not sure i really dont want to pack it with sealant as if that gets in the cat its fucked grrrrr.

In France it's a 1.4 VTS so I would assume that it's a 1.4 "Something" in the UK - couldn't be more exact I'm afraid - need to ask someone with a 1.4 Saxo

    Edit: Found this >> http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CITROEN-SA...item1c23644e1c

Maybe worth a quick email to seller to ask size

This is the seller i got the gasket from but he dont state sizes ?

But i have been investigating online but cant find anything about the sizes but i have found this which might just work subject to the depth as it looks the same ?
