Loose Passenger Seat / Wobble issue - `01 VTR

   Hi guys,
   
   I`ve been looking on this forum now for about a month as I`ve recently acquired a 2001 `Y` plate Saxo VTR in Amazon Green from a local car dealership. The car has only done 53k and is in good condition which was all well `n` good.......until I had to return it for a few minor issues that I wanted sorting out whilst still under warranty.
   
   The biggest issue that I`ve got with the car is that the passenger seat has got an annoying `movement` to it when sitting in it as any passenger would. The only way that I can describe it, is as though the whole seat itself is moving back and forth during any form of acceleration/braking.
   
   The fiance isn`t best pleased, (as you can imagine....nag nag nag), but I am getting concerned mainly over safety.
   
   The seat engages into the specific `slots` on the rail once you adjust it, (like any normal seat does), but then it still seems to continually wobble and there`s nothing I can do which appears to help the situation.
   
   I`m picking the car up tomorrow or Wednesday, (fingers crossed lol), and the garage have told me that the manager there has given authorisation for them to order me an entirely new seat. The only issue, is that they can`t obtain a brand new one and have told me that they`ll have to search for a replacement which could take.....well.....ages in fairness, as they`ll have to match the trim etc.
   
   I`m pleading with anyone here who may be able to help me with this and have perhaps come across it before. I`d rather fix this myself and not have to take my car back to the garage a second time because they`re doing my nut it now! Grrrr
   
   Anyways, thanks for listening all and I`ll keep my fingers crossed that somebody may well have an idea which may help me with this problem.

   Check under the carpet to see if the bolt has actually ripped away so to speak

   I`ll check it once I get it back matey, but thanks. You mean to check that there aren`t any `loose` bits lying around?
   
   I just hope that it gets sorted soon. Surely Citroen can get a new seat if the garage order one no? Expensive...yes, but my fault?...no!

   No like actually ripped the floor around the bolt. Might not be that though mate. Best to check.
   
   No idea about buying one new. Just get one off ebay or scrapyard.

   Welcome to the forums!
   
   It's likely just a loose bolt to be honest - slide the seat right back and look in the seat rails themselves, you'll see a bolt on each side. Check if they're loose. Then slide the seat completely forward, and check the other end of the seat rails for the same thing.
   
   If you try and tighten the bolt and it just spins, then I suspect the little floating plate in the floor that the seat bolts bolt into is stripped of thread - you could solve this be retapping the thread and upsizing the bolt one size.
   
   Worst case, you can pick up a complete VTS interior (including door cards etc so it all matches) second hand for about £100-£150, but if the thread is stripped in the floor, that won't help you unfortunately.
   
   Removing the interior is a really easy job and only a few bolts - you'll be fine to check any of this yourself - Promise!

   Awesome stuff....thanks man. Like you say, I`ll check it out properly once I get the car back either today or tomorrow some time.
   
   I intend on talking to the mechanic that has worked on it before I leave the garage to see what he has to say about it too. That way I`m sure i`ll be fully clued up to be able to try and attempt a repair myself.

   Adjust the spring clip on the seat rail mate.

   I have 4 VTR's. Both mk1 and mk2. They have all had the same seat problem with botg drivers ans passenger seat. You lock the seat i place by pushig it all the wa back until it clicks in place but it seams to rock as if your on a rocky horse. I have tighten nuts ans bolts and still does it. If this is the same problem as yours mate please pm me abd let me know if you get it sorted since i do understand how annoying it is. Good Luck and vice versa :-)

    inside the floor there are small square blocks with holes where the bolt go into if it makes sense you will see what i mean if you can get the seat off they aren't meant to move about, but when the seat is tighten there is no play what so ever and i did forget to do up the bolt next to the gear stick and my seat didn't move or rock but thats only one but thas sond more like it might be both the fron and rear blocks things inside the floor are both moving so that might be one to try and fix i would say chemical metal or some pu adhesive which is used by body shops would do the trick but if you can try and get them welded its saver to be onest or thread has mentioned above your and if that thas not work then best bet is to buy a second hand complete rail set they are about £20 i couldnt find one to fit my furio which has vtr/s seats and frames but i fond one from a 1.1 i had to modify it to fit easy stuff to do. but try and get a car specific rail much easier or at the back of the seat there is a gold thing i dont know what its cold but you will wknow what it is if u pull the seat all the way forward and look under neath the seat if it doesnt move forwards with the seat thas your problem right there its meant ot move forwards and backwards well at least mine do and the seats works fine hope this helps im not an expert but i try my best to help

    Cheers for the suggestions guys. I rang up the garage today and told them that I've managed to locate a local breaker yard by me and that the guy there said that they're currently breaking two VTR's and one VTS.
    
    A seat from there is only going to cost me £30 cash, so I'm going to pop up tomorrow, grab the seat and a few other 'minor' rubbers, grommets etc to make mine as complete as possible. I told the garage that they can pay me the £30 and that I'll sort it out myself.
    
    Replacing all 4 speakers and running them to an amp over the next week or so too, so either way, having to remove the seat should allow me to understand a bit more about how this beast works lol.
    
    I also need a boot grommet (previous owner lost one) as well as one of the rubbers that sit inside your glove box too. The trim that sits underneath the headlights has also had one of its clips broken too, so I'll grab the pair of those too.
    
    Anyways, I'll soon see what the score is, but as long as it appears to be common gives me pease of mind. I just didn't want to drive my friends, fiancé and family around in it if it had of been a health and safety issue.

    The garage have said that they needed to find me a whole new seat, which makes me feel as if the floor bolts are fine and that it's just the rail system that's f00ked.

    I had this on my drivers seat seriously annoying and the constant noise I took my carpet out and saw that the bolt hand ripped out the floor so had to pull it back up with some nose plyers and welded it back on the biggest paid was getting the carpet out
