Big oil leak

  1. #1
Just Changed the head for the very first time ever on my saxo for a recon one as it was knackered. Did so well and got the car running. After 20 mins oil started leaking out of the bottom of the cam belt cover. I had a new gasket and skimmed head. Could this be the camshaft seal and how easy are they to change

Problem solved the bloke I got the recon head from doesn't put the seals in

So you done all of that work but didn't put seals in? Lol

Well he told me the head was ready to go, just bolt on. Plus the sprocket was already on it so was easily missed

Oh how many times I've had to take a head half apart after forgetting to put cam seals in! Silly, silly mistake but not hard to sort.

I realise this is an old thread but hopefully someone will see it, I'm having a real hard time knowing how far to push the new cam seal in? The haynes makes it sound like all the way untill it seats against the back and online I am getting mixed answers? Anyone able to give a definitive answer?
    Thanks,
    Matt
