Airbag light

Hey guys, gotta ask but what is the common problem when the airbag light comes on? Mine is a 97 vtr n im wantin to know if its commonly the module, fuse, wiring or the steering wheel part itself.

    Cheers in advance.

Unclip the plugs under the drivers seat then plug back in,do the same for the passenger side.

Usually either the seat belt pretensioner wiring (under the seat) or the ring behind the wheel. I replaced both of these with some from another car i was breaking and it was perfect after this, but some people use resistors if playing about with the wiring doesn't help. There are many guides on here if you need to do that.
Whatever you do disconnect the battery and wait at least 10-15 mins before you start playing with the airbag system.

Thanks mate. Ive tried the wiring under the seat to no avail so ill buy a new ring and give it a try. Am i right in saying an airbag issue is an MOT failure?

Yup the light needs to come on and then go out now. Used to be an advisory. Im sure there will be a few people along to tell you how theirs passed anyway but its *supposed* to be fail. Your other option is resistors if that doesn't work. Easy enough to do.

Nice one. Where r the resistors located? Probably a stupid question but this is the first airbaggd car ive ever owned :-D

Nah you buy a few resistors ( of the right resistance ), one for each seat, and one for behind the wheel, whichever is needed. And connect them to the airbag wiring, it fools it into thinking its all working ok and the light comes on and goes out as it should. There is a guide on here somewhere if you get stuck
