Saxo VTR knocking when turning right??

  1. #1
Hi guys ive just joined the forums to see if anyone can help, ive just bought a saxo this week, I knew it had some problems but i seen a bargain.
Basically its starting knocking quietly when turning right, Its now getting worse and now i dont have to turn alot to the right and its knocking, So its getting worse by the day.

I jacked the car up today felt both front wheels for play,Everything seem solid, checked both back wheels and there both good too,
So i put the car in 1st and let the wheels run freely, both driveshafts seem to be knocking, near where there join to the gearbox, when i get under the car i cant tell which one it is the problem, I cant see both cv joints been damaged, Maybe one side is making the other side knock aswell?, Or could it be the gearbox?, Also the brakes are really really low, To the point where they have grinded the discs with grooves,
Im going to change them but before i order all the parts, I dont want to order two driveshafts, And could the brakes be knocking as there so low?,
Tried to explain everything, cheers guys anyhelp would be great,

Absolutely loving the car btw there fun on wheels.

turn your wheel full lock either way and grab the drive shaft if you can move it with ya hand then its f***ed m8

To test drive shafts as already said turn to full lock. Grab drive shaft and try and twist backwards and forward.. It shud av the tinyest amount of movment. But literally only a tiny bit.. So if u can twist it a little or a lot its fucked.. If u can move it sideways at all dont even drive at all...

    Hope this helps....

Checked both shafts today for play, one had more than another, but I noticed the rubber was completely off today, should buy a cv boot kit or a new driveshaft?

    This.

Had to do the same with mine.. was one side now the other.

Side effect from being lowered? I'm told it is but not really all that knowledgeable about them.

Mine did this, turning right also. It turned out it was the cv boot had lost it's clip on one side, repacked with grease and a jubilee clip has sorted it, no more noise

wouldn't of said the drive shaft , as said above would of thought it would be the cv joint!
