Power steering bracket

hi people, okay ive had a search but had no luck. I decided to change my power steering pump as it failed a while ago. Ive replaced my unit with a older pump from a 97 VTR, My car is a mk2 so originally had a all in one unit with resovoir bottle lower down the bay. The one ive got now had the hose that attactches to the slam panel. Ive connected everything up etc but i cant seem to get the pump to sit flush in the bracket, it appears the rubber straps that go around the pump for securing dont align with the two detachable straps that the two 10 mm bolts go through. Has anybody else had this problem at all. Im hoping i wont need the bracket from the mk1 i took the pump off. I know all the pumps are the same etc its just the bracket is pissing me off. Any suggestions on this matter. Thanks

i think i had this problem when i changed my pump a few years ago.

I just cut down the rubbers with a stanley knife so they could fit in the metal straps

Your car looks fab that low mate, yes your right under further inspection ive found the rubber metal clips are located in defferent places on the pumps, so its either change the bracket so rubbers no line up or remove the rubber like you say. When you removed the rubbers mate did it affect the tightness of the clamp and have you had any problems from this. Thanks for your help.

    haha cheers
i didnt remove the rubbers altogether, i think it might cause the pump to vibrate possibly?
i just trimmed them down so it fit. Was a very tight fit mind

You can swap the pump body over with your original.. It'll be the motor thats knackered

4 10mm head bolts and it pulls off
