Temp gauge?

    Alright guys, me.. AGAIN haha.

I pulled up outside a friend's house and turnt my car off, when he came out and got in I went to turn it on again but it just wasn't having any of it, when I put the key on the 2nd click all the lights on the dash were flickering and it sounded like the ECU was ticking, but no cranking at all?

I disconnected the battery for 5 minutes and reconnected it and it started first time, but the temperature gauge was being a mentalist, it was bouncing from nothing to halfway, to nothing again and then just staying at nothing, and now the temperature gauge won't move at all, it just stays at the bottom.

First question is obviously any ideas as to what's wrong with the car?

Second question is is it okay to drive? Or will it overheat or what..?

    Cheers in advance fellas.

check the thermostat, when the car is running put the heating on in the car on hot and full wack and squeeze the big pipe from the radiator if it feels soft then your car is cooling down ok means that water is circulating if it feels tight and hard then your thermostat is fooked, also check when the heating is on that its hot not just warm

If the above doesn`t work then get the alternator tested.

I will check what LeeVTR says tomorrow.

Stevo67, the alternator was recently changed due to having problems with it (not the same problems) so I can't see it being that?

also check you radiator cap, if the seals broken could be losing pressure, then the cooling system will need topping up then breathing

if caps seal has gone, get a new one from scrappy
