alternater or shite battery or what?

    hi all,

3 times my saxo vtr wont start. first, i thought it was the sound sys draining th battery as th sound system has its own fuse and is directly attached to the battery;s positive terminal.

so i use a battery charger to solve that problem

    happened again. same solution

the third time was after a 2 hours drive and the sound system hooked in during the drive BUT UNHOOKED after.a few days of driving shorter journeys later, it dies again!

every time it doesnt start, i put th key in to ignite, it clicks once and then nothing.

the strangest thing is, after taking the battery to charge this time, it started off with more amperes at the start (17A) then 10 hours later(10>A)?! does this pin the problem to bad battery internals or is it a bad alternator possibly a bad charger???

thanks all, sorry for being long winded or if anyone has to repeat themselves from previous threads. i didnt find them when i looked

halford's check and get a new battery, cheers guys. i dont know if this is relevent but when i changed my spark plugs, there's a small black cube at the end of a cable which is at the battery side of the coil pack. does that screw on top of the coil pack or underneath? i def forgot it's original position and dont know what tht things

I had this problem, took me ages to figure it out.

My alternator was fine when i checked it with a multi metre, but it turned out that it was a fault with the alternator after all.

Try replacing it, they are fairly cheap off fleabay

i've had a neoughbour home from a late sift and checked that the alternator holds it's voltage. will bear all this in mind, thanks guys!
