#2there are technical sections on this site you know
-
#3dont lower it by splines!
you'll fuck your beam up
remove the bars completely and lower it to however much you want -
#4are you on a mission to ignore every section/guide on this site?1 user thanked this post:

#6listen to LSOfreak, im having to shell out for a new beam cos the douche i got the car off naffed up this one
-
#11Take bar out, jack arm up to desired ride height (higher you jack the arm, the lower the car is) them replace bar...

#15Blackie just linked me this. It looks so simple

#16Just to clear somethong up in my head... When people say about lowering it splines or clicks, its because they dont take the bar out fully, so in effect are over twisting the toraion bar on one side and not enough on the other...?
Taking it out, setting and refitting is the correct way because you arent putting any extra twist on the bar? -
#17when doing it by splines/notches you remove the trailing arm from one end which disturbs the seal, letting moisture into the beam eventually giving you some cool looking negative camber
-
#19Like off all together? adjust fit on?Quote:when doing it by splines/notches you remove the trailing arm from one end which disturbs the seal, letting moisture into the beam eventually giving you some cool looking negative camber
It seems pretty much straight forward. the ball ache is getting it out and poss damaging the teeth on the bar?
If it comes out straight away youre laughing ay.. -
#20I was told that if you lower the torsion bar the rubbers eventually split which lead to the bearings failing and then the axle snaps, so i was told not to touch it. Is that a load of bull or?
-
#22no its not true
theres nothing wrong with lowering your rear aslong as the correct method is used -
#23Alright, i'll mabey get it done like
-
#24It is tedious, if you are going to do it, try spraying where your torsion bars are with mech oil a day or 2 beforehand or they will be all rusted up and can be an absolute bastard to get out
-
#25UNDER STATEMENT OF THE DAY... they are total f##ing wan#ers to get out.. unless they have been done before but still make sure you got a whole day from 9 am till 9pm spare cos you may just need it...
-
#26Pfff trade size can of WD 40 everywhere on the ends of the bars. Best money ever spent. Leave for a few days to soak, easy. Like butter.
-
#27Or just bring it to someone who knows what they're doing... You bwont need to worry then, or wait long... 45mins usually, the xcorrect way, with bar ends cleaned and greased.
-
#28My torsion bar that sits behind the yellow axle(in front of the spare wheel) drops slightly from the left to the right, is this ok? As ive tried it for looseness and all seems fine and stiff enough both ends, many thx all

#29About to do a rear axle change with a re-conned one.
Just wondered if it is possible/easier to lower the torsion bars on the re-con axle before I fit it to the car?
