I'm changing the rear axle on my vtr this weekend. Just want to know if the four bolts connecting the axle to car seize up as I dnt fancy snapping one on removal. If they do snap is it the end of the world

#3Cheers that's a great relief

#4the four bolts are easy, its the brake lines which can be a bitch to get off without rounding off the nut as from past experience lol

#5Wire brush the bolts then soak in wd40,do this 1 evening then change the beam the following morning.

#7There's no need to undo any brake pipes if you're not converting from drum to disc!!Quote:the four bolts are easy, its the brake lines which can be a bitch to get off without rounding off the nut as from past experience lol
What I do when I'm swapping beams is just undo the callipers and handbrake cables, (or if drums take the backing plate off with all shoes etc untouched) then undo all the brake pipe brackets + compensator and them you can simply drop the beam off and not touch any brake fluid. You'll have to 'untangle' the lines from the beam and make sure you remember how they go.
I think my way is safer way, providing you don't bend the brake pipes. There's no worries of snapping rear calliper bleed nipples, no rounded pipe unions and a bit of time saved

#9Nothing worse than doing this DIY on a sunday and then realising you can't get any brake pipes when they shear off lol.
