Hey I was wondering if anyone can help me my coolant keeps draining its pretty much half way down after a week of filling it up on top of that the car overheats after standstill after driving, when the fans come on its ok and ir resets to normal but I was wondering if it should be doing this I checked for gunk cos I thought it could be headgasket but none and no white smoke after topping it up.

    Help please

Get the cooling system pressure tested for leaks mate.

Try some radweld see how that goes

my rad cap wasnt sealing properly and was letting a mist out. over time it emptied itslef.
could also be a headgasket worse case

First of all you need to find out where is it going.

    1. Any leaks under the car?
    2. If there is white smoke from the exhaust then you are *ucked up - the coolant goes into the engine through the cracks in the head...
    3. Otherwise open the bonnet on the working hot car and pull the throttle lever (under the bonnet, not the pedal!) - higher revs this will raise the pressure in the coolant system and chances are you will likely notice the place where the leak is. And you better do it when the level of coolant is at its max.

Don`t use any sealants, you might regret it later!
