maybe coil pack causing the cut out.
the pipe is just an oil breather pipe. you can fix that temporally with silicone until you get a replacement, but this wont cause the cutting out mate

My oil breather snapped and I just got some strong tape and taped it in place was meant to be temporary but it never gave me no problems so stayed like that until I sold the car.

Sounds like a coil pack on its last legs, they fail often when the car is hot.
Nah my oil breather isnt even connected to anything, doesnt seem to have any effect on the engine, but it does need to be sorted out. It has been like this since i bought it, never had any problems because of it.
You can get an oil breather filter on ebay for about a tenner, or do what i did and stick it in a thermos flask with some wire wool and jubbly clip it to summin
