Stuck on 3500rpm

Well the saxo has been off the road for about a month and a half while I fix it up, i had the engine out to do the clutch aswell. Its all back in now but we had a problem starting it but found out we missed the crank shaft sensor out while putting it back together. Now it starts but the second it starts the rev's go up to 3500 without pressing on the throttle, i have looked at the idle control valve and its all clean checked the throttle position and its in the correct place. I have no idea what else it could be. i cant take it to a garage due to the car being sorn'ed of the road due to no MOT or tax? any ideas??
Thanks As soon as its running correctely it will be back but dont want to risk an MOT in its current state.

Will be charging the battery on fast idle - take it for a long drive or wait for it to die down / charge the battery

EDIT just seen its not tax/mot - charge the battery

Well i have to keep jump starting it so could it be that just the battery is so low its charging it up? ill get it on charge tomorrow i did mean to do it but never got round so i thought will work with jump leads. If it carry's on could it be anything serious?

If it continues after charging, and these have them it could be the throttle position sensor is fubar.

well when mine did this it was when i replaced the idle valve, haynes said just replace, but on reading this forum says to turn electrics on and off a few times and after that it worked fine and idled correctly

so today me and a mate left my car running still revving at 3500 we cleaned the icv and its still going for it. The throttle cable is not sticking as we have full movemen, even disconnected it to see if it was pulling the throttle open it self still revving im lost now i have no idea what else could be causing it to rev like it is?

Trial and error? Disconnect the ICV and TPS one at a time see if it makes any difference. Other than that I'd say you may have a leak somewhere. Squirt some WD40 about and listen for a change in the revs.

youve missed something off when fitting the engine back in

check all round the inlet for pipes you might not have reconnected...start by making sure the brake servo vaccum pipe is connected
