Does anyone know if theres a 4x100 hub that fits the splines for a ma/be driveshaft? I need wider 15" wheels and cant find any that are 4x108, btw dont want euro wheels, need motorsport/track wheels! thanks
4x100 hubs

#2is it not possible to put a wider tyre on your rim
-
#3Can only go so wide, 215 is what ive got and wouldnt want to go much wider on a 7" wide rim. Looking at a 9" wide rim so a 255 tyre will be what im looking at
-
#4Get some 4x108 -> 4x100 adapters
-
#5Would rather not use adapters, doesnt do anythng any good, especially for a track car personally
-
#6Get the hubs redrilled and tapped 90degrees round, did this on my mates rear axle on his 450bhp Capri so can take the abuse.
-
#7Also surely there are some wider wheels out there?
-
#8Ahh thats a good idea! Just need a company who can do it as its precision work... Thanks i never thought of that
i cant seem to find any, the ones ive found are varrstoen wheels which are basically rota grids replica's but do 15x8 and 15x9 unless anyone else know of any? Would like team dynamics the most but dont do any wider than 7 in 15's
-
#9Could you not contact td directly and get a custom set made up? Would probs cost a bomb though!
Do they do 15x8/9 in 4x100 then?
Also im pretty sure weller make custom steels that dont cost the earth... Maybe try them? -
#10I did think about that as i would need 3 sets so they might do it
Yeh only in 4x100 or 5x112 i think, they missed out 4x108! you got
A link to the wellers wheels? Would like to see -
#11Ive got some wellers but theyre only 7j... Check my progress thread. Ill find a link to their website now
Edit: www.wellerwheels.com
Potentially get some lightweight rallye steels banded? Would the banding take the abuse? Should think so. But brakes get hot under rallye steels? Thinking out loud lol -
#12Rallye steels are 14" not 15"!
-
#14haha i need 15's! also got 406 brembo's so they might have to get changed as the wellers are flat, nothing like the team dynamics, hhmmmm :/ i like the wellers tho! especially the price
they do a 15x14 ahaha imagine that!
-
#15What tyres are you running that are 215 width?
-
#16Avon acb10 215 wide, 40 profile, they buldge out abit so wouldnt want to go much wider on a 7" rim imo
-
#17Ah so they stick out past the arch?
-
#18Noo not like that, i mean one the rim the sidewall goes out quite alot if you know what i mean? As if the tyre is too wide for the rim so any wider would be dangerous imo. Im not worried about sticking out past the arch as its a track car only. With the 9" rims i want i will have the wide suspension kit gmc offer hopefully and maybe the maxi kit, or just some wider arches riveted on just may look a tad silly, not too sure yet!
-
#19Those bottom arms gmc sell are dire, I wouldn't fit them to my dogs gokart.
-
#20Yes i know there very expensive, i would make my own up if i could. I dont know how to modify the strut and havent got the equipment for the rear axle either. Im guessing you need longer driveshafts aswell?
-
#21Yea driveshafts would be needed also...
Wide track is the best way to go for wide tyres. -
#22Yeh thats what its all for. You can lower the offset then so its not stupid. Was going be box so new shafts will be need so it all works eventually lol would like team dynamics wide so much as i think theyre a great motorsport wheel
-
#23Trouble is when you get into wide wheels and custom offsets your needing custom wheels as the pugs/saxos run a low offset from standard.. I've been through all this and it's impossible to find a compromise.
I'm going to attemp fitting 225/45/15 on the front soon but that's with a totally re-worked suspension setup -
#24So say you had a wide track extra of 50mm, you got 15x9 wheels, couldnt you have the offset at say 35-40? But then i guess you have brake clearance problems...
-
#25Yea you could do that but like you say you'd have to have a large offset on the discs so that's more money.. If you got lots of money it's easy lol..
-
#26What if you spaced the calipers back, and maybe theres a disc out there at the correct offset for the caliper! 406 brembos btw, will defiently look into it a bit! But as you say will cost a fair whack of money i'd have thought, all in good time lol. Slicks in a 7" rim would probably be ample anyway for a small car
-
#27By dire I didn't mean dear,
I could shit a better wishbone than they sell,
They are garbage that looks like its been welded by a blind monkey! -
#28Really? Never seen the wishbones in person, i expect quite alot of time was spent getting them right. You reckon you would be able to make a set for some money any better?
-
#29please feel free to explain why you think these arms ares so "dire"Quote:Those bottom arms gmc sell are dire, I wouldn't fit them to my dogs gokart.
and not fit for purpose on your go-kart.
as for expensive --you have £200 worth of joints on them ,all easily replacable
and please remember all my prices on the website INCLUDE VAT and are made to your exact width requirements . -
#30to answer the original question in the post
you cannot fit the size of rims you want as there is not enough clearance to the strut and it would mean having all the extra rim outwards ,which will make the car "tram line" and not turn in correctly .
the way my kit achieves the wide track keeps the main geometry values as they need to be to corner and put down power as it should in a way that is economic
by all means buya REAL maxi kit --if you have £4000 to spend on the front alone --that was the price last time they made them -
#31So with your wide track kit i can have wider rims set up properly yes? As this is what i was hoping. By maxi kit i meant the arches, bumpers etc
-
#32Yes the wide track conversion gives you the correct steering geometry
+80mm track width would give you 40mm per sdie more clearance between strut and inner wheel rimwith no spacers fitted.
that does mean you need longer drivshafts
yes my bottom arms are "industrial " but they are very strong -- and will last even with everyday usage
kit car rose jointed units wear out quickly and need rebuilding often if used everyday .
for those thinking of making their own with rose joints ,do not be tempted by the cheap spherical joints available (rose joints) as they will not last
expect to pay £80+ for good quality units --3 per arm --thats £480+vat just for joints --
yes you buy them at £20 a unit but they are CRAP and will not last -
#33Ok, is that the maximum width you can do or would reccomend? And the joint i take it you mean kit cars are rose joint instead of the standard car type ball joint? Driveshafts will be custom made for a be box aswell so will just have to say xxmm extra length on the driveshaft. Will have your wide track kit near the end of the year hopefully!
-
#34I already have done 2 kits
one on my car and one on a rally car
kit/maxi cars have rose joints not just to replacemnt the outer ball joint but also inner wishbone supports as well.--very noisy and harsh for anything but a race car
I don,t make the big wings --just the mechanical bits
thats enough reallythats alot
your main limitation is how ow you can go as maxi cars used 17" rims and low profile slicks and the extra diameter of the 17" and tyres mean you have to move other things to allow a good lock and movement of suspension --all depends how stiff you go and rim dia and tyre fitment -
#35Will stay with 15's may go even smaller if i get different brakes. If possible i would want 50mm track width each side? Do you know if i could keep the offset at around 15 or will it upset the handling? So with 50mm extra track width and 9" wide wheels at a standard iffset the car will be overall 6's wider i think! Will most definetly have to save up for the wide track kit as it seems worth it in my opinion.
