Alloy banding/widening...

   Can you widen alloy wheels by using the same process as steel banding? I assume its possible with ally welding but have never heard of it done. Anyone know??

   I am pretty sure this can only be done with steel wheels mate

   In a word no. Alloys can be banded but in effect you making your wheel so weak that it isnt worth putting on. When you weld aluminium you alter the molecules in the metal making them weak.

   o to make them strong again it needs to be put through a heat cycle. but even after that the metal isn't as strong as before.
