Power Steering not working

    My 1.1 Desire's power steering was working, however it was only coming on after about 30seconds of driving, Then 1 day it didnt come on for about 5mins and now it doesnt come on at all, anyone any ideas? My Heaters and Rear Demister works fine

    Tap the bottom of the pump with a hammer, while the engine is on. The bushes are stuck

    if that dont work then your pumps proberbly gone or on its way out. ive replaced mine 3 times now. there easy to replace and only cost about £50 from a scrappy

    could be just the relay, my old saxo's power steering was playing up so i just unplugged the relay and cleaned it. never done it again, so you could try a new relay first rather then having to buy a new pump

    Big thanks to this thread and many others on here! I just give my pump a smack and its as good as new! Not expecting it to last forever and already had a price from the scrapies for another....£30.00 which is better than most prices on ebay. Thanks again!

    Your welcome, it is on its way out though more than likely, although i need to hit mines at least once every two months, since iv owned it.
