Whats happened?

   hi there new to this forum! picked up a 2002 1.1 desire, done 106,000 miles. got it of a friend, the car seems to run alright, took a look under the bonnet and found this. a load of parcel tape holding a pipe on. im no mechanic so i havent a clue about this, has it clean broken off? it wont push in or clip in etc

   The oil breather pipe has snapped off it's not a massive problem if it's snapped of the airbox which is what it looks like then you will need a new airbox to fit it back on

   its off a vtr..but its the same
   
   youll need to keep the pipe..but i got everything else..mine will still have the end yours has snapped off

    you don't necessarily need it into the airbox, you could put some hose on the end of the breather and just put it into a redbull can or similar placed somewhere in the engine bay. budget breather catch tank but would work. make sure you block the existing hole in the airbox though as its post filter so long term could increase your engine wear, also it will make a racket on full throttle i would have thought.
