Head gasket

    So my head gasket went today -_- Any idea on how much its going to cost to repair? i know its going to be 100s.. :/

    Should be looking at £200 + depending on where you take it

    Hmmmm not sure about that much but can be at some places, can get engines for that

    can get a 16v lump for like £150 ! haha

    Haha true, i wouldn't be able to get insured with a 16v though

    8v head gaskets are very easy to replace, every (student)mechanic with the right tools can do it. If I were you I'd ask around, when I worked for citroen TU 1.1 and 1.4 head gaskets just took a few hours tot replace.

    If doing yourself then get the head skimmed & fit a new timing belt kit as well mate.

    take the head off get it skimmed about £25-40
    get a torque wrench and a angle tightner off ebay £20-30
    head gasket and bolt set £40-60
    new coolant and oil + filter £25-30
    cambelt kit £40
    and a haynes manual £5

    Would love to do it myself, but i am completely clueless about engines and stuff, i know how they work but don't have the slightest clue of how to fix them lol But thanks for the advice lads.

    I can do it for you - based near horsham.

    £380 and that includes...

    Headskim, headgasket, headbolts, valve stem seals, rocker cover gasket, exhaust and inlet gaskets, camshaft oil seal, oil, oil filter, coolant, waterpump, thermostat, cambelt and tensioner. All inclusive, no hidden extra's.

    Damn! Wish i had seen this yesterday. The car is in the garage now. Thank you for the offer though! But i also would have no way to get it to Horsham :/
