instrument dials, working then failing to work

    hello, new on here.

    I have a 2000reg vtr, i'm having problems with the dials on the instrument panels, every now and again the speedo, rev counter, fuel gauge and coolant dials work then reset to off then work again.

    has anyone got any ideas what the problem can be please, thank you.

    There's no engine fault code on.

    dry joins on the back of the clocks if its the digital dial verison.

    also at times the battery light comes on briefly, one garage said it's charging fine, one other said the battery might be starting to break down.

    Check the wire on the alternator is rust free with a good connection

    found out what the problem is, car electrician said dials were breaking down, needs new dial cluster, also found that it was using too much fuel, ran diagnostic found both faults for £25
