looking at a car with one, are they good enough? Do they last long?

Never come across a car with one so bit unsure about it, obviously if im thinking of buying the car id like a little bit more information on the box

how much would i be looking at for a new gear box?

never had a recon one either but htey nomally come iwth a year warranty and should last as long as the first gear box depending on how much abuse you give these chocolate boxes.

Second hand newish box would be a good bet to

see other thread from memory in the handbook it was 72k for all models, that was a mk1 book though and i dont have one for a mk2 which reminds me might nip to scrapper today and see what i can get

Second hand boxes go for anything from 75 up to over 200 i think, speak to tam aka axo16v on ssc. He has a breakers yard about 20 miles from me and can courier to your door has also supplied loads of people with engines etc... and never a bad report
