right iv got myself into a bit of a pickle and rushed into things a little quickly iv bought a mint 106 gti engine which came out of a 51 plate with a 3 plug ecu, gear box etc i have currently got a vtr 2000 which is a mk2 but single plug im gonna carry out the conversion but wondering what else i need as iv been told the gti loom is different to the vts one which is plug and play are their any other problems i could be facing ? im not sure if my ecu is unlocked but have the key would this be much of a problem if it isnt unlocked ? Thanks

#2looking to do the same but did some homework first lol.
basically the gti loom is different to the vts loom at the point it connects to the interior loom, i believe all the rest is the same with regards to sensors etc.
you will need to do one of two things, source a vts loom from a 2000 vts and all the corresponding sensors or you can send your looms off to be 'spliced' together this is probably a more expensive option, a company called pug1off can do this at about £160 google them.
you will also need the immobiliser box from the 106 as well as keys and barrels in order to unlock the ecu, they can be sent off to be unlocked and cost about £70...
