Car has started and run fine up until about an hour ago parked car up fine came out to start it and it wouldn't start I've taken one of the pipes off the injectors and tried turning the key no fuel is coming out and I can't hear the buzzing sound of the fuel pump but I dunno where this is to check it??? Any ideas thanks

#2If the fuel pimp isn't priming on the 2nd click, that will be the cause
-
#3So it needs changein are the vts and vtr fuel pumps the same?? Also is this located under the back seats
-
#4Also how do I get it off there's the wire to fuel pump and two pipes you need to be underneith to take it off?
-
#5If anyone can tell me how to change the pump and if its what is located under rear seats then it would be greatly apreciated
-
#6No one??
-
#7Check the fuses, i doubt somethings just gonna give up as you switch the engine off.
This happened to me a few months back, and it was the double injection fuse ithink. -
#8Thanks mate will check in morning but I have had an issue with fuel gauge put half a tank in the other day and the needle never went down I never really noticed till the fuel light came on but needle hadn't dropped from below half even when I knock ignition off needle stays at half could this be a related issue or should I still be looking down same route thanks
-
#9Ok I have checked the fuses according to the fuse diagram anything to do with the pump and fuel injection is located under the bonnet and all those fuses look fine so this must leave the pump itself since I can't hear anything when I turn key??
-
#10do you have a multimeter (or access to one)? Connect it to the fuel pump wires as they're nice and easy to get to, then turn ignition, check if the pump is getting power. If you've not got access to a multimeter then either go buy one (they're about £20 for a haft decent one and you'll thank me later) or for now, use a lightbulb and a bit of wire to test for power.
(the power cables on the pump are the inner two, the outer two (thinner cables) are for the fuel gauge).
If it's getting power but you can't hear it - especially with your head down near it like it will be testing - then the pump is dead. If it isn't getting power, you know it's the wiring somewhere.
Come back once you've tested that and let us know, and we'll be able to advise further.

#11Ok so I took pump off and ran two wires from the battery to the pump connectors still nothing is this how you test them?? Does that mean its deff the pump???
-
#12You did presumably not just "go wild" on prodding power into the connectors randomly? Which side of the fuel pump did you hit up with +ve etc?
-
#13Ok so wait I tried again with pump battery wires to the prongs closest together to each other and it starts making a wirring sound
-
#14ok so the pump is working fine.
Good news. The wiring is now the thing that's faulty, so double check fuses.
-
#15I wanna be looking at fuses under the bonnet correct and not the ones in dash unless the fuse is a fine fine crack I can't see it should I just replace anyway?? I've tried wires in the connectors to a side light bulb and there seems to be no power to the pump so hmmm
-
#16should be fuses 9 and 11 in the engine bay iirc. It's really unlikely your wiring would have just given up, the fuse is far more likely. Try changing those for spares if you've got any (even an over-rated one for a TEST only).
-
#17wait... you have checked the inertia switch yeah? Before we get all complex...
-
#18Didn't have spares so I tried a couple from in the dash that were for interior lights shouldn't of effected the outcome any? The fuses looked fine anyway but still no avail it aint lightin the bulb
-
#19Ok so I found the problem I go to engine bay and hit the fuel cut of switch and we have power but I did this yesterday and got nothing are these switches prone to being faulty??? Thankyou for all your help mind
-
#20If you've stiff suspension that can be enough, but they do go faulty sometimes even on standard cars. Dead easy to replace, or (my preference) bypass.
£8 for a second hand one:

#21I moved mine due to strut brace and never got round to getting a bolt for it so it was wedged but should this happen again does snipping the wires and joining them together solve this???
-
#23Woops double post well thankyou help is greatly appreciated
