Battery light flashing

    A little while after I brought my saxo (1.6 vtr 2001/xreg) the engine management light started coming on, the revs would drop etc, I changed the coil pack and it didn't seem to change anything, last weekend fitted my new exhaust, now this is the weird bit, the EML light hasn't come on since however now the battery light keeps flashing at me and I've got next to no power .

    I got a sub and amp wired up but had that in for a couple months now so can't see that its drawing to much power??

    anyone got any suggestions please much appreciated

    Try another battery see if there's any change? I was running 4000w amp from battery and it knackered it

    Either alternator isn't putting out enough volts

    or

    Battery can't hold the given volts

    Most likely the alternator, Try cleaning the connectors to the alt with sand paper so they have a good connection.

    Then use a volt meter whilst ticking over - should be around 13.5-15.5v.. if lower the alternator needs changing

    Haven't had time to get it to a garage due to work, cleaned the connectors last night still doing it and it seems to be getting worse, most likely is the alternator then? Anyone know how much this will cost me roughly at a garage?

    Change the alternator yourself mate not a big job,as you`re a premium member have a look in the for sale section,or post a wanted thread.
