No Power to fuel pump

  1. #1
Hey, I currently have no power to my fuel pump, I have tried changing a few relays, hoping one is the right one, the green one next to the fuses in the engine bay and the red one under the ECU. However there is still no power, I have power too my fuel gauge. I was thinking about just wiring a new power lead to it, however I have no idea about what to do, I can do basic wiring, but i do not know where I will have to wire it too, e.g. ignition, emergency cut off's, relays ?

    Any help appreciated
    Thanks, Dom

Did you reset the cut off?

How do I do that ? I assume the AA tried it when they tried to fix it but no harm in giving it another go!

Red button, close to brake servo. Press it.

No luck, I'm guessing the wire must be damaged somewhere then? because it isnt the relay, cut out or pump, as the pump worked with a power pack attatched to it ?

you sure the relay was working that you tried? the one youd need is the one under the ecu as youve said

    no fuses blown?

if its not working still...take an ignition live from the fuse box and bypass it..but it would be worth trying to trace the wire back and finding out why its not working in the first place..

as it may be cut somewhere on the chassis..which does have the small chance of causing a fire

Not 100% I'll try another one out to be sure first. Also does the live wire literally go straight from the fuse box to the pump ?

just find a live that is only igntion live..IE when you turn the key off its dead
run it from the source with a fuse inline..to the pump

but do try to check the wires first

check the wiring round the ecu tray too..as mine rubbed through on the tray and killed my relay...pump was still live but it had killed the live to the injectors

Ok, thanks, I'll check all the wires tomorrow and see if this works

    Cheers!

I've run a live from the ignition live on the stereo, and the car runs fine now, I assume this is all safe ?
