Gear Selector?

   Problem after problem at the moment...
   
   Basically, my car pretty much only goes into third/fourth gear and the play on the gear stick is insane. I'm guessing it's the gear selector/ball joint so any ideas on the pricing to fix this?

   they have a tendancy of shiring the pin on the selector on the gearbox (the one in the middle) you can eaither get a new bin and bang it in, or get somone to run a weld round it, eaither should take up the play

   Get under the car and have a look.
   
   Its likely an issue with the control arm on the back of the box or the linkage on that arm. The control arm is mounted to the gearbox using a roll pin, if this has popped out (and they can) the control arm can fall off and will then only allow you to select 3rd/4th gear and the gear stick will be really 'floppy'.
