Ecu change after cam's

Have plans to cam my engine at some point, but i was under the impression the standard ecu can be mapped. But apparently i was wrong, no?

Seen people buy a predator ecu and i was wondering what the base price for them are. Googled them but nothing come up :/

    cheers

    they can be mapped
i have a mapped one from my old engine in my toolbox

people go pred as its a similar price to a map and opens up options on future mods as its a standalone itll run bodies/boost ect

Well i have no interest in running bodies/boost.

So where did you get yours mapped. Seems the couple of places that come up google will only map standalones? ?

Also lastly, think i know the answer but i'll answer anyway. Mine being a single plug, can i buy a premapped ecu as long i've got the same cams as the original car? ?

    chipwizards do most of them
    i had mine done there

and you can yes its only the same as standard cars all have the same map yet the engines differ slightly
if you have 708s and buy an ecu for 708s it should be fairly close to what you need providing your timing is set up right

Well haven't looked too much into which one i'll get. . moneys a bit tight lately. But yeah thats what i thought. . cheers mate!

Couldn't you buy a pred, ask for a basemap for 708's, not much extra than the price for mapping a standard ecu I think ? .I know you said your not interested in bodies or boost, but when you come to sell the saxo you could always take the cams out and sell them and sell the pred and get some money back that way.

Well because ain't they like £500 quid. ATspeed charge that for there standalone ecu's. Would rather find someone who will map a standard, even if i have to drive a distance. . thats if i can find someone!
