Spare parts number.. help

    hello peeps..

    Great Website, unlimitet information

    Anywayz..

I have saxo vts 1.6 16v from 1999, and few days ago, my oil temperature gauge started acting wierd.. When i start the car, even if it IS cold, havent run for days, the gauge will show almost 100%, even tho i know its cold, it can also jump from max, to half and back to max within just a second.

The problem is, i bought the car second hand, and didnt get owners manual or anything, so im having trouble finding spare part number for the oil temperatur sensor, can anyone help ???
Its the one on the back of the sump, only one conector/wire goes to it. in haynes manual, the wire has nr 411 if i remember correct, and is pink...

Any advice would be greatly appriciated

p.s. Hope im making any sense, english is not my native language, so spelling and grammer is prolly way off ^-^

oh, thanks mate, but its not that one. the first link u postet, is for the oil level sensor, which is on the front of the sump, just above the oilfilter.. The one im missing, is en the back of the sump.. It looks like the coolant temp sensor, which is on the thermostat housing, EXCEPT this one has only 1 connector...

some places its called "oil temperature sensor and temperature switch"

It's checking your oil level. The mk1's show your oil level as you turn the ignition on. So if your level is correct, it will go to the top and back down. Halfway, it would go halfway and back down.

Does your gauge then work normally when your oil has warmed up?

If so, there is no fault.

Sorry, I've just re-read your post and it sounds like its doing it at random intervals.
