Loud Noise !!

   Hi,
   
   I have an issue with my Citroen Saxo, everytime I accelerate I got a really high pitched noise, (quite loud). The more I accelerate the louder it gets and the less I accelerate the quieter it gets........any ideas please???

   Urrm could be many things, could be your alternator belt its worn, could be your gearbox is on the way out, cambelt tensioned too tight. Try popping the hood and revving it via the throttlebody and see if you can locate the source of the noise!

   i have a similar problem on my wifes saxo, not quite a screeching noise but very high pitched. i popped bonnet and had a look while engine was running. the noise appears to be coming from the starter motor, my first thought was the belt but now i am not so sure.
   
   all theories welcome, it started quite suddenly a while back and its now getting worse(higher pitch and noisier). no problems in the running of the car, drives just like it should

   Is it a whine and only when in gear? Mine use to do that all sorted with a gearbox oil change
