Crunching into gears

  1. #1
When going into first it always crunches! The only way it doesn't crunch is if the car is stood completely stopped..

Also the geartsick feels "wobbly" any ways of stoping this

    Thanks in advance

Only first or all gears? Could just be clutch adjustment. Could be knackered synchro. Most likely cable if Previously driven with mechanical sympathy.

Second question - wobbly gear stick. Have a search on the forums, covered a zillion times. Usually roll pin, rods, or the ball and socket (I briefly forget is proper name).

    Search and you'll find it.

As Ross said, it sounds like a knackered synchro if it's just in first. Worth a bit of cable adjustment to double check though as it only takes 2 minutes.

Does sound like a synchro but as stated above adjust the clutch and linkages to make its easier to engage the gear

If the issue persists and you require it being refurbished contact me
    Hope this helps
    Thanks sam

Yeah had a look into the "wobbly" bit and orders that like 50p part and new gear linkages..

Well it's first and second only...

The car has to be a complete stop to make it go in..and you have to go into second really slowly for it to work

    Cheers

It may come to a re-furb pal

    Take it you do them?

Sounds like the synchro on 1st and 2nd is knackered then. Either get your box re-built or get a 2nd hand decent one ordered, if you can find one. Or learn to change without the clutch

Or get a second hand box for peanuts... They're practically a service item cost wise - second hand boxes go for between £50 and £100.
